Happy OWL-O-WEEN!!

What is it about owls?  They are everywhere!  Cute owls, not-so-cute owls, scary owls, realistic owls, stylized owls.  OWLS OWLS OWLS!!

Well, of course, that makes ME want to make OWLS!  So I have added these two to my Halloween collection for 2013.  What do you think?

These two adorable owls are all dressed up for trick-or-treating.  The brown owl wears a green tunic trimmed with black crepe paper, pompoms and flocked rick rack.  He has a matching wool felt hat and he carries a little jack-o-lantern bucked filled with treats.  The tawny grey owl is dressed in an orange tunic trimmed with white crepe paper, pompoms and tiny pompom fringe.  Her hat is orange with a white pompom.  She carries a little skull bucket filled with candy corn.

Both of these owls are listed in my etsy shop, A Piece of Lisa.

I've been working on Christmas/Winter items for the past couple of weeks.  I'll be unveiling some of those pieces soon, so stay tuned!  In the meantime, Happy Haunting!

Thanks for Hopping!

The Witches of Giggleswick Blog Hop wrapped up Saturday night and it was deemed a huge success!  YAY!!  All the witches seem to be very happy with the results.  I KNOW I AM!  Thank you so much for signing on to follow A Piece of Lisa and leaving such nice comments about my work!  I hope you will all continue to check in here to see what is new!  I appreciate you all SO MUCH!!

The head witches, Carly of Boggy Bottom Bayou (The Wicked Witch of the East) and LeeAnn of Charmed Confections (The Wicked Witch of the West) will be busy the next couple of days verifying that everyone followed the rules by signing up to follow ALL 13 blogs and leaving comments at each one.  They will then randomly draw out the names of 13 lucky winners who will receive the prizes.  You will need to check back here on WEDNESDAY to find out if you have won!  Good luck to all of you!  I wish I could give each one of you a prize!!

In the meantime, let's have a look at another one of my Halloween characters.  Since we still have the Witches of Giggleswick on our brains, how about a witch:

This is Katrina.  She is a very sweet little witch, and a little bit shy.  She likes to carry her black cat around in a little jack o-lantern bucket.

Katrina is dressed all in black, with a pleated skirt trimmed with lace, a crepe paper collar and a chenille fringe cape.  Her dress is adorned with green Swarovski crystals and an orange glittered velvet ribbon.  Her tall witch's hat is made from paper covered in black velvet and trimmed with a glittered button.  She has orange and green striped stockings under her glittered black boots.

Katrina has big green eyes and curly strawberry-blond hair.  She wears tiny green crystal earrings.  It's the little details that make her so special!

She is available in my etsy shop, A Piece of Lisa.

I need to get to work now!  Only two weeks left until show season begins!  EEK!!  I'm starting to feel the panic set in.....

Please remember to come back on Wednesday to check out the winners list!
Have a great day!
Lisa

I create whimsical, one-of-a-kind art dolls and figurines for all seasons.  But my favorite holiday to create for is Halloween, because anything goes!!  I can let my imagination run away with me.  Yes, I do the 'traditional' stuff like witches, Frankenstein, and Dracula.  But I also like to create pieces that are a little more off beat and unusual.  Like this funky little jack o-lantern.

JUST JACK with a Bat is the prize I am offering to one lucky follower of this blog hop!  He is sculpted from polymer clay and wears a wool felt wizard's hat.  A glittered foam bat soars above him on thin black wire.  He is a signed and dated original work of art.

Green Goblins and a Welcome!

Welcome to all my new followers that have signed on with the blog hop!  I'm so glad to have you here!

Today I'm going to show you a couple more reasons why I love making Halloween characters the best.  You can make ANYTHING.  I let my imagination run away with me, and I know that anything I come up with is fair game. Has anybody really seen a goblin?  Do we really know what they look like?  Perhaps they look like this:

These two scary green monsters just want to go trick or treating.  They don't understand why everyone runs screaming when they see them!  Luckily, they have been able to scoop up some candy corn that was left behind.  They LOVE candy corn!

Both of these frightful fellows are available right now in my etsy shop, A Piece of Lisa.  I've recently listed a whole bunch of new Halloween Spooks.  You might want to go have a look around.

And for those of you who haven't yet joined in on the blog hop, you really need to get started!  Please go to this post and get the details on how to enter.  Thirteen wonderful Halloween artists--the Witches of Giggleswick, as we like to call ourselves-- have banded together, offering some really great prizes.  There will be 13 lucky winners!  It can't be you if you don't enter!!

This is the adorable jack o-lantern that I am offering to one lucky follower.  But you have to ENTER to win!

Have a great day, and enjoy the hop!!

Best Witches to you!  The Witches of Giggleswick

A Gypsy Witch

I've been so busy creating lots of whimsical Halloween characters for the last two months.  I spent a good chunk of the last several days taking pictures, editing pictures, writing etsy listings and putting things  up in A Piece of Lisa.  You really should go have a look around my shop now!  It's full of lots of new things.....and there are still more to come!

All those jobs listed above are my least favorite part of my work.  All I ever want to do is CREATE things, but without the pictures, how would I ever show them off to all of you?  It's a necessary task, so I get it done.

Today I want to show you one of my newest favorites.  I think she gives Clara a run for her money on being my favorite piece.  I would love to keep her too, but I did list her in my etsy shop just this morning.

This is Clarice.  She is a gypsy.  Some call her a witch.  I think she's a little of both.  I like to think of her as Clara's daughter.  She inherited her ability to see the future.

She is dressed like a gypsy for sure, with her floral print skirt and matching head scarf.  She even has a long fringed shawl and jewelry.

She has very prominent facial features that are accented with hand-painted details....coppery-gold eye shadow, red lipstick, painted on eyebrows. And no gypsy would dream of going without her jewelry!  I found a crystal ball charm for her necklace and though you have to look closely, she is wearing big hoop earrings with a little copper bead.  A Swarovski crystal adorns her scarf.

I used another big marble I found on the Junk Jaunt for her crystal ball.  I like how it reflects different things depending on the angle you look at it.

You can find Clarice right here, in my etsy shop.  She certainly is a one of a kind witch!

Back to work!  I trust I will see you all here tomorrow, for the beginning of the Giggleswick Blog Hop.  You don't want to miss out!

Trick or Troll
