About Me

I grew up in a small town in western Nebraska, the youngest of five children.  I always loved to draw and paint and make things, and my parents encouraged my creativity.  My favorite class in school was always art.

I moved to Omaha to attend college and have lived here ever since.  I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1989.  I studied all areas of studio art before completing my thesis work in abstract oil painting.  I also did extensive work in letterpress printing and book binding.

Upon graduation I discovered polymer clay and became completely enchanted!  Through the encouragement of my parents and my husband, David, I embarked on a career of making miniature figurines, jewelry pieces, and exquisitely detailed Christmas ornaments.  Since 1990 I have sold my work at hundreds of art and craft fairs in Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and South Dakota.  In 2011 I began making larger, whimsical one-of-a-kind characters.  I found my true passion, and A Piece of Lisa was born.

David and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary last fall.  We were never blessed with children, but over the years we have had five Brittany Spaniels and three cats.  Currently we share our home with the dog, Rudy, and the cat, Lily.  When I'm not working with polymer clay I enjoy making cards and papercrafts, handmade journals, and I still pick up a paint brush from time to time.  I also love to read, I enjoy home improvement projects, and I really don't mind cooking.  On summer weekends you can often find me on a lake with my husband, bass fishing.

God has granted me many gifts....my most cherished are my husband, my family, my best friend, Marian, and my artistic abilities.  I feel very blessed to be able to do what I love and to share it all with you.

Thanks for dropping by!
