Spring is coming, right?

It's been a harsh winter.  While we haven't gotten very much snow here in Omaha, our temperatures have been brutal!  I'm really ready for spring, and I think I'm not alone!  So now that I am finally back to work in the newly remodeled studio (posts about that coming this week, I promise!) I have been working on a few new Easter pieces. 

These three Easter sweeties can be found on my Pfatt Marketplace page later today. 

Bonnie Bunny is all dressed up in her finest Easter dress.  The bodice is sculpted from lavender clay, and the skirt is hand sewn from a cute polka dot print and edged with ribbon and lace.  I finished the look with a crepe paper collar and Swarovski crystals.  She wears a clay hat trimmed with flowers and holds an Easter basket filled with moss and tiny eggs, tied with a pretty silk ribbon.

Eggbert with Bunny Ears is another version of a design I did last year.  I love him!  My sister says he reminds her of the m&m guy, and she's right!  He is sculpted from blue clay with yellow and pink accents.  His grey boots are trimmed with pink chenille and blue Swarovski crystals.  I made his bunny ears from wool felt and fluffy chenille.  A bit of wire allows them to be bent at a quirky angle.  His clay basket is filled with moss and tiny eggs and trimmed with a pink satin bow.

Chocolate Chunk with an Egg is a different style of Easter bunny than I have done before.  A bit more egg-shaped with a quirky face and hand-painted yellow-green eyes, she has a pretty pink gingham bow on her ear.  The big egg is sculpted from yellow clay with pink and white flowers and is covered with very fine pink glitter.  It looks like it's sugar coated!  The brown clay is the color and sheen of chocolate, so this bunny looks good enough to eat!

JUST JACK and a few notes

I just listed this adorable jack-o-lantern in my etsy shop about five minutes ago.  Isn't he fun?  I hope you will go have a look at him, and the other frightful characters that are showing up in my shop.  I still have a lot of Halloween spooks to get listed, but they are all waiting for their photo shoot.  It's hard balancing all the tasks required with the limited number of hours in a day!  I just want to MAKE THINGS! LOL!!

Sharing Some Blog Love

Something different here today.  I didn't do a Friday Favorites last week.  So maybe this could sort of replace that??  I want to share my new friend LeeAnn's blog. 

LeeAnn of Charmed Confections is a wonderful artist who creates fabulous Halloween art from paperclay.  She is a fellow member of Pfatt Marketplace, and also an artist on Spookytime Jingles.  She has an etsy shop, a facebook page, and a delightful blog.  I'm happy to call her my new friend, even though I have never really met her!  The beauty of the internet!  Oh, she also has five of her wonderful Halloween creations featured in the current issue of Art Doll Quarterly.

Art Doll Quarterly

Hey, Friends!  GREAT NEWS!!

The Fall issue of Art Doll Quarterly Magazine will be out on the newsstands next week, and I am BEYOND THRILLED to say that one of my own dolls is featured in their Show and Tell Gallery!  YAY!! 

 

This magazine is a fabulous publication, full of amazingly talented doll artists.  It is such an honor to have my work featured in the same magazine as Scott Smith of Rucus Studio, whose delightfully frightful Catrina in Waiting is featured on the cover.  His work is simply incredible and so inspiring.  He is one of my very favorite Halloween artists! 

 

I submitted three witches for consideration and the editors chose Pearl, who happens to be one of my all time favorite witches! 

 

 

Pearl is a kind old witch dressed all in white. Her dress is sculpted from pearly clay with an ivory silk skirt trimmed in satin ribbon and a fabric flower.  Her cape and hat are ivory crushed velvet.  Swarovski crystals detail the front of her dress and her little black boots. Her hair is made from curly wool roving. She is carrying her cat, Ecru, who is sculpted from clay.

 

There are so many wonderful dolls featured in this magazine.  If you are at all interested in one of a kind art dolls, you might want to grab a copy.  It hits newsstands on August 1.

 

I'm also pleased to tell you that my friend LeeAnn of Charmed Confections is also featured in the Show and Tell Gallery of this issue with five of her Halloween creations.  It's her first time being published and she is very excited!  Congratulations, LeeAnn!!
